This is an all-encompassing readme that SHOULD cover pretty much all of my avatars as they are all set up mostly the same way. If there's anything I forgot, let me know. ========================================================== SETUP INSTRUCTIONS: 1.) Install VRChat Creator Companion, as well as the required Unity version. Start a new unity project with VRCC. 2.) Make sure you set up the project with the VRChat Avatar SDK. 3.) If you want the avatar to look the way it does in the images, you will need the Poiyomi Pro shader- the version I use is specifically 7.3.0.28. Any version SHOULD work, including Poiyomi Toon, but will likely require some manual adjustments as sometimes different versions don't apply settings correctly. 4.) After importing Poiyomi, if you plan to use it, then import the avatar files. 5.) If you DO NOT want to use Poiyomi, the materials will be broken and show as bright pink. An easy fix for this is to select the broken material, and simply change the shader to whichever you prefer to use, be it Standard or otherwise. 6.) At this point, for PC anyway, the avatar should be fully ready to use- just drag and drop one of the prefabs into the scene and you're good to go. Just add your custom textures and that should be it. Be sure you're using the PREFAB and not the FBX. 7.) If uploading for QUEST, you will need to do things a little differently. The import process is the same, however Poiyomi is not compatible with Quest and as such can be skipped. 8.) After importing the avatar, you will need to use a PLANTIGRADE prefab. These are usually in their own folder within the avatar's main folder, labelled "Plantigrade". 9.) After this, you will need to change the material's shader to one of VRChat's mobile shaders- I recommend Toon Lit, but whichever you prefer works as long as it's a mobile shader. 10. Disable the eye lens on the eyes via the blendshape included for eye lens removal, otherwise your eyes will appear black due to the lack of transparency on the eyes. 11.) At this point, you should be good to upload to Quest. Do note that while (most of) my avatars are Quest COMPATIBLE, they are not Quest OPTIMIZED. This means people will need to manually show your avatar. Unfortunately the level of detail on my models makes it extremely difficult to impossible to truly optimize it for Quest due to Quest's ridiculously limiting standards of optimization. ======================================================================= HOW TO SWAP OUT HAIRSTYLES ETC.: If you want to use a particular prefab setup that has a different hairstyle on it from the one you want, OR it doesn't have hair at all- simply select the existing hair mesh (if it exists), and swap the mesh out for the one you want via the properties menu on the sidebar(i.e. where all the blendshapes are). If no hair/etc mesh exists on the prefab, duplicate the body model and then do the same step as above, simply swapping out the mesh (and changing materials). =======================================================================
